The U.S. Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (otherwise known as FinCEN) is responsible for overseeing CTA activity, aggregating/storing CTA report information, enforcing the law and prosecuting any possible crime it might detect.
As an important and integral part of the U.S. Treasury Department, FinCEN’s mission is to safeguard the financial system from illicit use, combat money laundering and its related crimes including terrorism and promote national security through the strategic use of financial authorities and the collection, analysis, and dissemination of financial intelligence. The agency’s current strategic plan focuses on enhancing national security, combating climate change, modernizing Treasury operations and protecting financial stability and resiliency.
